Dreissigacker Wunderwerk
Two sites. Three cuvées. One bold decision.
In Dreissigacker Wunderwerk two entirely opposite sites of Rheinhessen come together in sensory experiences without precedent: the single-vineyard cuvées Wunderwerk Riesling, Wunderwerk Pinot Gris and Wunderwerk Pinot Noir. Each cuvée holds the contrary aromas of the Bechtheim sun and the cool of the Westhofen sites. Only our patient ageing process brings them together into a uniquely complex whole. We deliberately left the purity of the single site behind to make room for a wonder: unusual wines, uncompromising and endlessly harmonious at the same time.

Where the Wunderwerke begin
The Wunderwerke have their roots in two different single vineyards, in soils of unmistakable composition that bring forth wines of independent, wilful character.
In the Bechtheim sites Geyersberg, Hasensprung and Rosengarten the berries ripen in abundance; saturated with warmth and light, they develop present, layered and powerful aromas. In Westhofen the rougher microclimate sets a slower rhythm. Standing against the cool winds over Morstein, Aulerde and Kirchspiel, the vines draw their strength persistently from the mineral soil and later give Dreissigacker wines of clear, fine-drawn style.
True to our conviction, we see ourselves only as a supporting element while nature does its work. Through deliberate yield reduction we concentrate the qualities of both sites into a few berries. The result is wines that set out their specific origin clearly in their own aromas.
Three wonders, made by time
What grew apart, we let mature together at Weingut Dreissigacker. Over two years on the lees, a bold approach first becomes a bond. After several years in bottle they build an inseparable depth. Something entirely new has been created. Had the fusion never been risked, the world would have lost something.
In the Wunderwerke the two opposing sites come together in a complex and affecting experience. Powerful without being overwhelming. Expressive without telling the whole story at once. At the end of a patient ageing period stands a Wunderwerk Pinot Gris that makes no claim to easy balance but draws instead on the harmony of dissimilar aromas. A nuanced Rheinhessen Wunderwerk Riesling with a wealth of fine notes. And a complete, elevated red in the form of an elegant Wunderwerk Pinot Noir.
The three wines of the Wunderwerke collection are enigmatic and demand concentration. They ask to be discussed, and are hard to put into words. Much like a wonder.
