Organic viticulture. This means manual labor, patience, careful use of natural resources, vitality, and sustainability.
Jochen Dreissigacker had this vision when he took over his parents' winery. It was to be a revolution in conventional viticulture. The switch to organic viticulture was just the cornerstone of a transformation process that continues to this day. Constantly questioning, rethinking, and developing, never standing still - these are Jochen's maxims.
Years of experimenting and gaining experience led to Dreissigacker Organic Winery consistently focusing on the gentle handling of plants, resources, and the environment, both in the vineyard and in the cellar.
As an organic winemaker, Jochen always keeps the goals of organic viticulture in mind: maintaining natural soil fertility, promoting biodiversity, and working carbon-neutral.
Instinct, courage, and trust
To achieve these goals and create the finest organic wines, Jochen spends countless hours in the vineyard. He observes nature, pays close attention, and makes careful decisions. What plant protection gives the vines strength and vitality without harming nature? What soil condition provides the roots with ideal space to develop? What cover crops nourish the soil?
Plant protection is minimized to what is absolutely necessary. The species-rich cover crops promote biodiversity. And only compost is used for fertilization, for closed cycles and always with the premise of giving back to nature exactly what has been received from it.
Jochen and his team have also fully committed themselves to organic viticulture in the subsequent work in the cellar. In the production of organic wines, great importance is attached to CO2-neutral working. For example, the precious organic wine is transported exclusively by gravity instead of pumps. This gentle working method not only corresponds to the basic idea of ecological viticulture but also ensures the highest quality of the organic wine.
Organic viticulture. An interplay of instinct, courage, and trust in nature with the goal of perfect balance. Perfection of the wines, but always in the spirit of nature and the environment. We live organic viticulture.
