Dreissigacker NFTs connect tradition with the present day. Combining crypto technology with fine wine is far simpler and clearer than it may appear at first. Here we answer frequently asked questions about Dreissigacker NFTs, about buying them and about what happens after purchase. A blockchain is a public, decentralised database in which information is stored in individual digital blocks strung together in sequence. This chain of blocks is held across a network of distributed nodes. Every node in the network holds a complete copy of the blockchain, identical to all the others. The blockchain is tamper-proof: each new block is linked to the one before it and carries its history in the form of that block's checksum. Each block also contains the checksum of the entire chain, so the order of the blocks is unambiguous. All data is stored encrypted to prevent manipulation. Dreissigacker NFTs are created on the Ethereum blockchain, one of the largest decentralised networks in the world.

A non-fungible token (NFT) is a unique, non-interchangeable digital object whose data is stored on a blockchain. It works as a digital certificate of authenticity, for images stored on a blockchain for example. An NFT can be thought of as a digital title of ownership that cannot be duplicated.

Creating an NFT requires the owner of the original, which in the case of digital art is usually the artist. The digital or digitised work can be “tokenised” on certain platforms for a fee. A digital representation of the original, together with certain properties (metadata), is stored as a unique value on a suitable blockchain. Simply “tokenising” any copy found on the internet and selling it as an NFT would infringe the creator's copyright. Graphics and images are usually offered as one-off pieces, known as single NFTs. Sometimes artists sell several parts or a set number of signed copies as multiple NFTs. For a specific Dreissigacker bottle, only a single NFT is possible, for example the Legenden NFT 2017 N° 01.

To own an NFT you need a wallet. It works rather like a bank account with its own address. To send or receive payments you always use your wallet address, comparable to an IBAN. (See WALLET.) WHAT IS MINTING? Minting is the process by which new tokens are created and registered on a blockchain. Minting cryptocurrency is comparable to striking coins in traditional finance. Individual products must first be minted to register them as NFTs. The product is then encrypted with a unique code that makes personal ownership possible. The crypto wallet used to mint the NFT (see WALLET) is your access pass to your collectibles.

Once an NFT has been minted it can be claimed. Unlike minting, claiming is the assignment of the NFT to a wallet: you transfer the NFT into a wallet. You can then see the NFTs you own outright in your wallet, MetaMask for example. HOW DOES AN NFT WORK? After minting, the NFT is stored on its blockchain. The rights attached to it can therefore be verified and transferred at any time. Many NFTs are stored on the Ethereum blockchain, as are the Dreissigacker NFTs. Ethereum is the most widely used blockchain for NFTs. It stores not only transaction details but further information as well, and allows pre-programmed actions known as smart contracts. These smart contracts record the rights attached to an NFT and carry additional information.

Blockchain technology makes NFTs tamper-proof in principle. The blockchain is decentralised, stored across many nodes in a network. Each block holds a set of records. The information is encrypted, and only one block holds the key to the next block in the chain. The entire history of an NFT can therefore always be traced, which identifies its owner beyond doubt.

NFTs make it possible to connect the physical and the digital world. They prove, for example, that a physical object such as a Dreissigacker wine is unique, authenticated and not counterfeit. An NFT therefore serves as a certificate of authenticity and shows the right of claim to the object. This certificate cannot be altered or copied.

NFTs are used across many fields, above all wherever digital ownership and scarcity matter. Artists, influencers and musicians use NFTs to create unique digital assets for art, games, music or event tickets. Jochen Dreissigacker is now among the first winemakers to offer his wine as NFTs.

Yes, NFTs can be sold on platforms such as OpenSea, Mintbase or Rarible. Reselling your own NFT requires certain information, entered either when uploading or later when selling, if the platform does not list NFTs for sale by default. You must state whether the NFT is to be auctioned or sold at a fixed price. Because NFTs are not tied to the platform on which they were created but stored on their blockchain, they can be offered across different platforms. Please note that blockchain transactions are final. Unlike with banks, an incorrect transaction cannot be reversed.

A wallet is a digital purse. A wallet for NFTs (non-fungible tokens) lets you trade simply, securely and quickly. It holds your private keys to the NFTs, which is what allows you to carry out transactions. MetaMask is among the largest and best known wallets.

MetaMask is one of the most widely used wallets. You can create your own wallet on their site in a few steps: metamask.io. MetaMask works with several browsers (Chrome, Firefox or Edge). Please note that Safari does not currently support connecting to wallets.

MetaMask is a crypto wallet for Ethereum. Besides buying and holding tokens, it supports trading on platforms such as OpenSea.com. Since its launch in 2016 MetaMask has established itself as a secure, open-source crypto wallet. More information is available in this video

You can buy the Dreissigacker NFT in the Dreissigacker online shop under the category SELECTED. After your purchase you will receive an order confirmation and two further emails with information on claiming your NFT. Please follow the instructions in the second email to claim it.

In the Dreissigacker online shop you can pay by PayPal, direct debit or credit card. We plan to enable payment in Ether, the cryptocurrency behind the Ethereum network, in future.

When you complete your purchase in the online shop you will receive an order confirmation and an email containing a link. A further email then explains how to load your Dreissigacker NFT into your wallet. Please follow the instructions in that message to claim your NFT. You will need a wallet set up beforehand, MetaMask for example.

To claim your NFT you need a wallet, MetaMask for example. Please note that the required browser extension is not available for Safari. At present NFTs can be displayed in your wallet directly only in the mobile version of MetaMask. In the browser extension you can get an overview of your NFTs through the portfolio function at https://portfolio.metamask.io/ or via the button inside the MetaMask extension. Your NFT is always stored under your wallet address, however, even if you do not add it manually. You can view your NFT in OpenSea at any time using the link you received by email.

To claim your NFT you first need to set up a wallet of your choice, MetaMask for example (see WALLET). When you claim it you will receive an email with the NFT contract address and the NFT ID. With these you can transfer your NFT into your wallet.

The transfer is normally completed within 24 hours. If you have not received your NFT after that time, please get in touch with us by email at support@dreissigacker-wein.de.

A common cause is that the NFT has not yet been loaded into your wallet. If you have already tried this without success, please contact support by email at support@dreissigacker-wein.de. We will deal with your request straight away.

No, your NFT does not expire. Once minted it is part of the blockchain and remains there. When you claim your bottle, the NFT is redeemed and cannot be used a second time to claim the wine again. Your access to the exclusive Dreissigacker community, which came with the purchase of the NFT, remains.
