The Making of Dreissigacker Vintages
Dreissigacker Vintages is the result of a fascinating process that begins in the vineyards around Bechtheim, continues in the winery's cellars, and finally finds its expression in an exceptional Riesling Cuvée. It's a wine that demonstrates the impressive aromatic diversity inherent in the Riesling grape. Conceived from the idea of bringing the magic of a Grand Cuvée from Champagne to a still Riesling wine – realized through assemblage, the art by which great Champagne winemakers harmoniously combine the complexity of different vintages. Dreissigacker Vintages is a wine that, with dedication and passion for Riesling and a constant pursuit of innovation, was first bottled in spring 2018 with its initial edition. In the current Edition VI, Jochen Dreissigacker unites eight vintages – from 2017 to 2024 – into a stylistic composition that perfectly balances freshness, depth, and maturity.
»One has the best of all vintages, and that is unique.«
Dreissigacker Vintages Riesling: a Riesling from eight vintages
The grapes for the Dreissigacker Vintages Riesling come from organically cultivated vineyards around Bechtheim. Careful selection in the vineyard ensures that only grapes of the highest quality make it into the cellar. Harvesting is consistently done by hand to preserve the grapes as intact as possible. After manual harvesting, the berries are gently trodden with feet, allowing the juice to macerate with the skins for several hours before a particularly gentle pressing takes place. Work in the cellar is just as meticulous as in the vineyard. After pre-clarification by sedimentation, the Riesling ferments spontaneously. The individual vintages mature separately before being blended into a harmonious composition in the final step. The special characteristic of Vintages lies in this combination of several vintages. The first edition – a cuvée of three vintages – is expanded with each new vintage. This creates a wine of increasing depth and complexity, where freshness, maturity, and structure come together in perfect balance. For food pairing with the Vintages Riesling, we recommend pan-fried chicken breast with ginger and noodles. As a vegetarian alternative, tagliatelle with briefly cooked seasonal vegetables and Riesling sauce pairs excellently with the wine. The blend of several vintages shows balance, character, and precision – for moments when everything comes together.
